Russia Will Withdraw from International Space Station
Recently, Russia has announced their decision to withdraw from the International Space Station in 2024, once the space station's lifespan is reached. Russia has plans to build its own space station called "Russia Orbital Space Station" or ROSS for short. Russia says that the reason behind these plans is because the space station's "condition leaves much to be desired" according to Deputy Prime Minister, Yuri Borisov. Russian developers say that they "predict an avalanche-like failures of numerous elements of the space station, after 2025."
Although I'm not very active and involved with my interest in space, I find space and space related things very interesting. I'm curious to see how all of this plays out over the next few years. It blows my mind every time I think about the International Space Station. It's hard to wrap my mind around the fact that we currently have humans quite literally floating in space. It's amazing and terrifying at the same time. My mind always goes to the worst and I think about what would happen if things went wrong up there. It's almost like a dream and a nightmare at the same time. On the one hand, you'd get to be in space and see the Earth from above, but at the same time, you're completely reliant upon the space station itself, the crew, and radio contact with Earth, nothing else.
I've never been that big into space either, but this is definitely interesting! Thinking about people up in space always gets me a little nervous because there are so many things that can go wrong, but it will be interesting to see how this pans out. Thanks for sharing!
