Daft Punk Announces Retirement
The French music duo Daft Punk announced their retirement after 28 years of music. The announcement was made through a video on YouTube. Formed in 1993, Daft Punk has had much success in the world of electronic music.
Daft Punk has released four studio albums and 23 singles, along with many other works. Some of the most recent being features with The Weeknd on "Starboy" and "I Feel It Coming" in 2016. Back in 1997 when they released their first album "Homework," it peaked at number three on French charts, earning the duo a platinum from the Syndicat National de l'Édition Phonographique (SNEP).It's a well-known fact that Daft Punk wear robot helmets for all of their performances and appearances. According to Daft Punk in Rolling Stone the reason behind this choice was "We're interested in the line between fiction and reality, creating these fictional personas that exist in real life."
It's sad to see such and iconic group retire, but their music and image, along with the impact they've had on electronic music will live on forever.
I remember listening to Daft Punk when I was a kid and their music holds a lot of nostalgia. It's sad to hear that they are retiring but at least their legacy will live on for years to come. I also had no idea why they wore helmets, so that was interesting to read. Thanks for sharing!
