Day off Diaries 1
I have decided that I'm going to start a mini-series on my blog. For each of the three days that we have off this semester, I will write about what I did, how I felt and what I accomplished in that day off from classes.
The first official day off from classes was February 18th. What did I do on that day off, you may ask? In short, not much. Despite having a cognitive psychology exam the next day, I didn't begin to study until 2 p.m. and the time spent studying was extremely sporadic. I thought that because my roommate would be at work all day, I'd have zero distractions and no excuse to put off my work... funny. One thing that I did accomplish was making a Quizlet, but I can only hope that it helped me out on the exam. I'm just glad that the first exam is out of the way and I know what to expect from now on.I am thankful for these days off, especially because we didn't have any off last semester, but they're not as helpful as I originally hoped (at least in my opinion). I completely understand why we aren't having normal breaks, it's just hard to get used to and I'm sure most can relate.
I know that I'm not alone in feeling this way. We'll get through this, you've got it :).
Thanks for sharing this! I also had a hard time studying and working on assignments on our day off. I think because we were told that these couple days are a replacement to or spring break, we want to treat them like vacation days. But since they're in the middle of the week and only one day, we pretty much will still have to use these days as another work day, and not truly get any time off. It's so frustrating!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this! Many of us students can relate to you and your situation. I will not take any of these days off for granted. I am excited for your next blog of this mini series!
ReplyDeleteI was so looking forward to the day off to really just enjoy myself and relax... That is not at all what happened. It was definitely a day of homework and catching up. I do really love this take on a mini series! I hope the next "mental health" day is a little bit better!
ReplyDeleteI surely relate and did not find the mental health day advantageous because I, too, did not do anything with my time. I planned on catching up on homework and studying, but failed at all of this. I appreciate that we at least get a day off, it's just not as effective as I hoped, like you mentioned.
ReplyDeleteI completely relate to this, I found myself binging Netflix rather than being productive. I think this really stems from the fact that most of us students reach the burned out state even early on in the semester. This is especially true since, like you said, last semester we had no breaks. With everything going on in the world and the constant pressures students face it is difficult to actually make the most of free day. Hopefully we're able to make better use of the breaks in the future though, I know I definitely need to!
