Day Off Diaries 2
Welcome to the second installment of my blog's miniseries "Day Off Diaries."
The second official day off from classes was March 10th,
which was also Honor's Day. It started off with my bestie/roommate being
inducted to a prestigious business honor society! The rest of my day was spent much like the first day off...doing absolutely nothing. The only difference between the first day off and this one is that doing nothing for the entire day didn't feel as wasteful as it did previously.
I accomplished nothing but taking the day for myself. That wasn't the original plan to be honest, I had a list of all the things that I needed to get done for the week, but I completely ignored it, and that's OK.
I hope you all had a good, relaxing day off; you deserve it. Congratulations to all that were honored on Honor's Day!
Reminder: We're over halfway through the semester, you've got this!
Thanks for sharing! I think as the semester goes on and the burnout becomes more and more apparent, we need to allow ourselves days to do nothing. The point of these mental health days is to give us a break, and we need to allow ourselves to take that break without feeling like we're "wasting" anything. Hopefully assignments lighten up in this second half of the semester and we can allow ourselves to breathe more.
ReplyDeleteI love this series. Thank you for sharing this again! The burnout right now is real as it probably is for many students. I am glad you were able to enjoy your day off. Already looking forward to the next day off.
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree with your message that we deserve to relax on our days off without feeling the need to be productive. Even though Honors Day is a day to rest, because it's in the middle of the week, it can be easy to treat it as another school day. Allowing ourselves to take breaks is always a good thing.
ReplyDeleteI love this series! It shows me that I am not the only one who doesn't get stuff done on those days off. I agree that we deserve to relax on those days off, especially when we don't get any breaks this semester. I hope the second half of your semester goes well!
ReplyDeleteBreaks are so important! I also ended up taking time for myself and I completely agree that we have to stop feeling guilty about it. Burnout is so real and in order to be fully functioning we need to take breaks. I'm counting down the days to our next day off!
