My Weekend
In contrast to my last few boring and uneventful weekends spend here in Ada, this past weekend my parents came up to visit me. The "main" reason for their visit was to bring me my mail from home and bring me food that they made at home. Other than that, it was great to see them, since it has almost been two months since I had seen them last (which is unusual since my house is only 45 minutes from Ada.
A few weeks ago, the bookstore was having a t-shirt sale, and I saw an "ONU dad" shirt (pictured). I knew I had to get it for my stepdad because he'd love it so much and it'd make him very happy. He told me that when him and my mom came up to see me, we HAD to take a picture together so he could post it on Facebook ha-ha.
One of the food items brought to me was a box of baklava . It's a layered pastry made with honey or syrup and pistachios and other nuts (see second picture). It has become one of my favorite things that my stepdad has introduced me to. Before he was in my life, I had had baklava before, but it was nothing like the authentic kind that we get now. I 100% recommend, you know, if you're not allergic :).
It was overall a pretty good weekend. Call your family if you haven't seen/talked to them in a while.
I love that you got your step dad a shirt! I purchased one for my father also and I had never seen him appreciate anything more. College is an adjustment for our parents, not just us. I can tell you guys have a great relationship!
ReplyDeleteThat's great that you were able to visit with family and such a great pic! Baklava is so good, I definitely plan on trying the more authentic version when I get the chance!
