APO Rush Week
This Monday kicked off Alpha Phi Omega's rush week. This semester's theme was the Olympics, with the three days of rush consisting of games to foster competition, as well as leadership, friendship and service, our three cardinal principles.
I attended Tuesday's event which was service night. We made bird treats with pinecones, peanut butter and seed, which doesn't sound like it would be competitive, but the catch was that the group who made the most feeders was the winner. There were a few stipulations to make sure the bigger groups were on a similar playing field to smaller groups. The stipulation was that each person in the big group could only have one pinecone per person at a time.
There were five people in our group, and we made an assembly line out of the process. We ended up making 29, winning bronze. But that wasn't the only part of the competition, once we were all done making and counting the pinecones, we were then told we had to distribute them. In short, this meant there were about 30 people running around Mac and The Tundra frantically throwing pinecones into the trees. It must have been odd to watch for everyone else on The Tundra!
I joined APO fall 2020, funny right? So, this year's rush was the first one I had experienced in person. I'm so glad we are finally able to meet in person, because all the old members talk about how fun everything pre-pandemic was, and with everything being online, it hasn't been as fun as it could have been (still fun, but not the same). I'm excited for what this year has in store for our chapter, and I can't wait to actually meet all of the brothers!
Sounds like a fun time!
