Summer Series: Part 3

Summer Series: Part 3

While I was at work on July 20, I got an Instagram message from my friend and roommate, Jasmyn. She said that we should go on a "farewell summer" trip to kick off our senior year. The day before that, she had sent me a tour flyer from her favorite band, CNCO, they were playing in Chicago on August 21st, the weekend before school started, how perfect.

We flew into Chicago on August 20th, figuring we'd have a good part of our day to get lunch and dinner in the city, since we landed around 1 p.m. Wrong. What ended up happening was, we waited in the airport for almost three hours for an Uber to become available. We did luck out though, our driver was wonderful and told us about all the best spots to go to. We wound up at our hotel by almost 4 p.m., which didn't give us time for lunch, but gave us plenty of time to relax and get ready for our dinner reservation at Nobu.

At Nobu, I can confidently say that it was some of the best food I have ever had, especially the whisky cappuccino. For the main course, we ordered the Omakase, which is Nobu's signature tasting menu, and a lychee martini. After the Nobu experience, we saw the beautiful city lights as we headed back to our hotel for the night, eager as could be for the concert the next day.

The next day, we woke up fairly early go see Millennium Park before we headed outside the city for the concert. Of course, we saw The Bean. I feel like if you don't see The Bean when you're in Chicago, did you even go to Chicago? Also, did you know The Bean's real name is Cloud Gate? It was an absolutely beautiful day, and not as busy as I had anticipated, which made for great pictures. For lunch, we both had our first Chicago hotdogs, another rite of passage.

After Millennium Park, we headed to the outskirts of Chicago, and waited in line for CNCO for four hours. Never in My life did I see myself waiting in line for that long for anything, but I can 100% say it was worth it. The show was fantastic, and they sounded amazing. We also ended up with front row, which made waiting in line so much more worth it. This experience was unreal, and I cannot wait to see them again ;).

  1. Thanks for sharing! In 7th grade my class went to Chicago, but I had to miss it because of a wedding, so I've always wondered what it's like to visit!
