I Don't Know About You, But I'm Feelin' 22
This past Thursday was my 22nd birthday. It feels somewhat surreal to finally be 22. My roommate Cheyenne likes to induce an existential crisis in me by saying things like "wow, you’re finally the age you'll be when you graduate," or "wow, I'm not even halfway to 22." I'm clearly loved. Anyway, the only good thing about being 22 so far in my opinion is being able to listen to Taylor Swift's "22" and be able to relate.
To celebrate, Cheyenne, Jasmyn,
two friends from high school and I went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. It had
been quite some time since we had seen our high school friends. I of course got
a Kenny's Cooler (the best drink) and ate far too many rolls. Before we had
left for dinner, my mom had sent me a beautiful arrangement of flowers from the
local shop.
While at dinner, my friend Cole
got carded with the rest of us, even though he didn't decide to get a drink,
and our waitress said that she had no idea why she made him do that. To make
her feel better, Cole said "he just wanted to be included." Banterlike this continued throughout the night, which led the waitress to call him
annoying (lightheartedly) which was definitely one of the highlights of my
night.
After dinner, my
roommates and I did a celebratory shot of '42, which is reserved for special
occasions. With it being a Thursday, of course I still had work to do, so I
finished up my lab for sensation and perception psychology and went to
sleep.
Overall, I had a great
birthday, and I'm so lucky to have amazing friends to spend my day with.
p.s. I'm patiently waiting for
22 (Taylor's Version).
I'm glad you had a fun birthday! It's always hard to fit in a birthday celebration during college, so I'm glad you were able to. I also like the comparison to Taylor Swift's "22"- I'll have to remember that for next year!
